On this page we will be looking at 5 different animals, and seeing how they meet their need of water!
The first animals is..........Buffalo!
The first animals is..........Buffalo!
Two commonly mistaken animals, the Bison, and the Buffalo. The bison lives in Alberta, while the Buffalo is a totally different animal. So, depending on who you're talking to, if you call a Bison a Buffalo, you could mix them up! They are quite adapt at finding water, especially the water buffalo-they pretty much live in the water. Since in Africa (where some kinds of Buffalo live), people usually herd these animals, they take them to water holes to drink. Buffalo have reasonable memories, which can help them remember where water is.
Considering that the Barracuda lives in water, it's pretty easy for it to get water-but fish don't drink water-kind of. Some fish actually drink water, while others absorb it through osmosis. It simply depends on whether the fish is saltwater or not.
Kangaroos have some pretty cool ways of getting water. If they live in the desert this is even more important. Kangaroos must find permanent water sources, and to add to their water receiving line, they get the dew off the grass! Despite what some people say, kangaroos must drink water regularly. Only red kangaroos can go for extended periods of time without water.
Ladybugs are no exception to drinking water-they have to have water-but in a form most of us would turn up our noses at. Aphids. While Ladybugs do drink water-pure clean water (usually in the form of dew), they collect a lot of their water from the aphids that they eat.......yum!
Sand cats aren't that often heard of, but they are interesting-they don't drink water. They collect all the water they need from their prey!
